Tinseltown is about to invade Music City for the 7th year in a row for what has now become the premiere screenwriting conference in the nation — the Nashville Screenwriters Conference 2005. The event is continuing to build in stature, impact and attendance as it once again brings many active Hollywood screenwriters, directors, producers, and executives from various parts of the motion picture and television industry to share knowledge of the business with aspiring writers and filmmakers. Even Kirk Ellis, the writer of the upcoming TNT miniseries “Into the West” will be here!
The NSC features a series of practical how-to panels on breaking into the movie biz, an outstanding music-for-film panel with music supervisor Anastasia Brown moderating some of the top names in the business, and a number of great parties where Hollywood players mix it up with conference attendees.
The co-organizers of the Nashville Screenwriting Conference, Les Bohem and Karen Murphy, have themselves created major Hollywood projects. Murphy has produced such works as “Spinal Tap,” “Drugstore Cowboy,” and “A Mighty Wind.” Bohem has written “Dante’s Peak,” “The Alamo,” “Twenty Bucks,” and Steven Spielberg’s hit sci-fi series, “Taken,” for which he was also Executive Producer.
”This conference brings something very valuable to aspiring writers and filmmakers attending the event because they have an opportunity to get one-on-one with prominent writers, film agents, producers, lawyers, execs and managers; while the industry pros from out of town get to experience Nashville, some for the first time. They are exposed to its’ people, sights, history and musical talent. I think this is a winning event for everyone involved,” says Gary Haber, President of the NSC.
