Homeowners of all social and economic classes have found that owning a swimming pool or spa is not only practical but can be extremely affordable. Ultimately however, the price of these marvelous pieces of art depends on how creative you want to get!

Like any other architectural design, there have been trends in the world of pool design. In the '50s the rectangular pool was popular. The '60s brought us the kidney shape. Lap pools became popular in the '70s, partly due to the exercise craze. In the '80s and '90s the trend was infinity pools with edgeless sides.

Today state-of-the-art design and construction of swimming pools, spas and saunas is a booming business. According to Gary Nannini, President of Pool Art of Nashville, TN people are spending more time at home and more money on swimming pools. "More work is done from the home due to computers, and families are investing more money in their own backyards," he says. Pool Art develops a relationship with their clients. "After several meetings with our clients, we develop a concept unique to each client's taste. Our designs have included caves, swim-up bars, hot waterfalls, hot springs, hidden grottos, and all include fiber optic lighting."
